Let’s Beer is a partnership established in 2022 between two Certified Cicerones, Lucy & Alex. We combine our skills and love for beer by running fun and engaging beer experiences, events and education around Nottingham and the East Midlands.

Lucy Simons

Lucy started working in beer in 2014 as the co-owner of The Abdication. Discovering a real passion for beer, alongside her skills in organising stuff, she has since established Hop Idol, Nottingham’s home brew competition, helped set up Place to Brew, Nottingham’s only home brew club with a dedicated brewing facility and also co-founded No Half Measures, a group for women in beer in Nottingham.

Her beer geek status was confirmed in 2022 by completing the Certified Cicerone programme.

Alex Downham

After always having a keen interest in wine and beer Alex completed the WSET Level 2 qualification in Wine and Spirits in 2018 followed by discovering a hunger for further knowledge in the beer world. This led him to becoming the Beer Tutor at NottsDerby Wine School and ran their beer tastings.

Alex completed the Certified Cicerone programme in 2022 and has a real passion and fascination for beer & food pairings with all of their different flavours and combinations.
